Our planning work on the Indy Health District lays the foundation for one of the most ambitious anchor institution strategies in the country. Envisioned as a new health innovation hub just west of downtown Indianapolis, the district seeks to transform nearly 1500 acres into a walkable, inclusive, and healthy ecosystem of care.
Led in partnership with anchor institutions, community organizations, and the City of Indianapolis, our work focused on aligning land use, mobility, and public realm strategies to support equitable growth and reinvestment. The plan includes new health-adjacent housing, multimodal corridors, and active public spaces that bridge longstanding neighborhood divides.
This effort is grounded in principles of reparative planning, aiming to reconnect historically disinvested areas while fostering opportunity for residents. Our team helped frame the district’s development in a way that honors its complex history while positioning it as a national model for health-focused urban regeneration.
